What Happens When You Die?

Genesis 2:7—God made humanity from the dust and breathed the breath of life into us.

Genesis 3:19—Humanity is dust and returns to dust at death.

Genesis 7:21-22—Animals have the same breath of life as humanity.

I Kings 2:10—When someone died the Bible states that they rested or slept.

Job 3:11-18—Death is likened to sleep.

Job 4:17—Humans are mortal.  We are not immortal.

Job 14:14—Death is a waiting period before a future change (resurrection).

Psalm 6:5—There is no remembrance in death.

Psalm 115:17—The dead are silent.  They cannot praise God.

Psalm 146:4—When you die your plans perish.

Ecclesiastes 3:19-21—Humans and animals experience death in the same way.

Ecclesiastes 9:5-10—The dead know nothing.

Daniel 12:2—The dead sleep.

Matthew 27:52—The dead were asleep.

John 3:13—Only Jesus has gone to heaven.

John 3:16—We will either perish or have everlasting life.

John 11:11-14—Jesus said that death was like sleep.

Acts 2:29, 34—David is not in heaven.

I Corinthians 15:53-54—We are corruptible and mortal, but we can be given

immortality.

I Timothy 6:15-16—God alone is immortal.

I Thessalonians 4:13-16—We can have life again when Christ returns and resurrects the dead from sleep.
